Former Harris County Deputy Arrested on Federal Child Pornography Charges

Former Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Andrew C. Sustaita, 30, was arrested Thursday on a federal charge of production of child pornography.

Sustaita was relieved of duty from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 9, and his termination was effective on Jan. 25. He had worked with the sheriff’s office since June 18, 2010.

“Sex crimes against children are especially heinous, particularly when they are allegedly perpetrated by a member of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. “We will continue to devote all necessary resources to ensure those who victimize children are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Further questions regarding this federal case should be directed to Angela Dodge, public affairs officer for the U.S. Attorney’s Office-Southern District of Texas, 713-567-9388, angela.dodge@usdoj.gov.
